A Hike with Friends

Yesterday, during another round of unusually warm days, we put away the books, and met friends at a park.  Though it wasn't a planned nature walk, we did enjoy the day visiting with our friends as we walked through the woods.

We made two or three scientific observations along the way of...

moss growing on an old spring house right off the trail, a decaying stump, and evidence of the spring to come.

We also found a state line survey marker, checked out a geocache box, and practiced reading a trail map.

Though the children found these observations and activities interesting, their favorite part was

 climbing the rocks!
