On Their Reading Lists

Ever wonder what other people's children are reading? Sometimes, knowing what other children are reading and enjoying, or not enjoying, helps me find more books for our children to read.
In the hopes of encouraging another, today I am sharing the books our children
are currently reading, or have just finished.

Our oldest son is reading The Last of the Mohicans, unabridged, by James Fenimore Cooper, for his assigned reading.  He is also reading Moby Dick, unabridged, by Herman Melville, and continuing in the Sugar Creek Gang series, by Paul Hutchens, for fun.

For her assigned reading, our oldest daughter is reading Heidi, unabridged, by Johanna Spryi, and at leisure, she is working her way through the original Nancy Drew books, by Carolyn Keene.

Our youngest daughter has just finished The Milly-Molly-Mandy Storybook, by Joyce Lankester Brisley, for her assigned reading.  She is currently thoroughly engrossed in the American Girl series for Cecile and Marie-Grace.

Though our youngest is just learning to read, he does enjoy flipping through his new Dr. Seuss book and Bigsby books, with Bigsby {the interactive story buddy}.

  1. I love that you post what your children are reading. Once we kick back into gear in earnest (that should be tomorrow!) we are going to be reading a lot more. Over the holiday my oldest has reread almost every Harry Potter book and my little guy has gotten into the Tin Tin comic books, which are so cute!
